Understand PPI (insurance protection payment)

Payment Protection Insurance, better known as PPI, is a type of insurance that protects borrowers and other indebted consumers.

Some of the usual debts that are covered by this insurance include: mortgages and other loans.

When financial institutions provide loans to their clients, they are expected to repay them until they finish. In some cases, however, there is a disaster in which patients become ill or lose their jobs and are unable to repay their debts or loans.

In such situations, PPI intervenes and makes payments to consumers until they leave the company. PPI may also choose to repay the loans for a maximum of one year. After that, the consumer has to make payments.

Who issues IPP insurance policies?

Insurance companies are the ones that issue policies to consumers who take out loans. Consumers include people who have taken out a mortgage, a finance car, a credit card debt, or some other form of debt. As a rule, lenders work on their claims on behalf of insurance companies.

For example, a bank may process the PPI insurance premium for a mortgagee on behalf of an insurance company.

What are PPI claims?

These are claims that consumers and PIT holders receive if insurance coverage is badly sold to them. In most cases, consumers have difficulty selling insurance with bad information.

Other consumers are told that they must take out the policies after learning they need to buy them, and other consumers do not know they have purchased the insurance. In cases where banks or insurance companies are convicted for abusive sales of policies, they must compensate all consumers.

How do I create a claim?

If you believe PPI protection has been sold to you, you will need to request a refund. The application is simple because you only have to complete one application, attach all necessary documents and submit your application to the government.

If you submit your application, the government will review your application and if it is in order and all documents submitted correctly, it will be sent to the banks for a refund. According to a court ruling, banks generally have to pay all claims submitted by the government.

If you have application problems, you should contact companies and agencies that have experience to help individuals with their application.
